Rev. Dr. Carla Ryan, Music Director
Music Director Dr. Carla Ryan believes that, while “music soothes the soul” and can aid in healing emotional pain, it is also a great way to meditate. The spiritual and inspirational songs she enjoys are like prayers riding on a melody. As songs are expressed through voice or instrument, often we can connect with the Divine at a deeper level than through words alone.
Dr. Carla began church and choir music performances in grade school. After many years in-between, she picked it up again as an adult when she was accepted as a member of the Mile Hi Choir (Denver, CO).
Her love of music includes taking piano lessons, entering open mic concerts, and dabbling in song-writing with other musicians. When she was leading a New Thought church in Parker, CO, Dr. Carla was responsible for hiring musicians for church services. She also applies her expertise in selecting appropriate song videos for Center for Spiritual Living – Grand Junction.
Whatever the genre, Dr. Carla endeavors to bring a variety of sounds and lyrics into the Sunday program to support the messages presented. A volunteer choir has been assembled to lead the congregational music each week, as well as perform songs “live” for holiday services and special occasions. They are accompanied by keyboardist and popular local musician Huey Plumleigh.
The music team is happy to accept additional vocal enthusiasts to the choir… and there is always interest in “booking” local guest musicians for a Sunday service. Choir rehearsals are held each Friday morning at 10:00AM at the Center. Contact Dr. Carla if you have interest in participating.
